I was born in Ottawa, Ontario Canada March 10, 1955 and lived most of
my Canadian life in Almonte, Ontario. Almonte is the birthplace of the inventor of basketball, Dr. James Naismith.
After obtaining a Diploma Nursing degree at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Ontario I
moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. Here I worked as a nurse in the Medical Surgical, Coronary Care, and Emergency Departments.
I also obtained a Baccalaureate in Nursing from Corpus Christi State University, now Texas A&M.
I next moved to Columbia, SC where I worked at Palmetto Health Richland in The Operating Room, as
well as in the Department of Risk Management. I returned to school again and obtained an MS, MSN, and a Dr. P.H. from the
University of South Carolina.
I am now employed as a Clinical
Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing as well as Faculty Principal for Capstone Scholars at the University of South
Carolina in Columbia, SC.
And, oh yeah, from 2001-2007 while juggling
full-time work, and full-time school, I climbed the 7 highest mountains on the 7 continents of the world!
