Born and raised in Canada, and now having spent over 1/2 my life in the USA, I thought that it was fitting to name my site after the two biggest influences of my life ... that of the countries of America (AMER) and Canada (CAN).

I have always enjoyed the view from the top, and have constantly been in search of a better vista from which to sit and admire the earth below.

Starting March 28, 2007 I began my pursuit of the view from the top of the world ... Mt. Everest. On May 24, 2007 at 9:30am I enjoyed that view  ... and it was breathless!

The next few pages will cover my recent midlife crisis which was my quest to become the first nurse to climb the 7 Summits of the World. These climbing adventures, as well as other global trekking trips to include a 6 month jaunt around Europe in 1984, a year long backpacking trip around the world in 1988, and another year long trip through Latin America in 1993 are covered in my book, "7 Summits: A Nurse's Quest To Conquer Mountaineering And Life".

My motto has always been, "If I Can Do It, You Can Do It Too", and I know now from experience that you can attain your goals, no matter how lofty, as long as you have a strong determination and a good support system!
